Today I am giving this space over to an amazing organisation based here in Copenhagen working towards a sustainable society that anyone can get involved with. I have written about them before here.
But for now over to think.dk!
Welcome to think.dk
In outer Østerbro, hidden in a backyard, lies a small gem of Copenhagen’s Sustainability scene – think.dk, the Center for Acceleration of Change.
think.dk is a not-for profit community centre, knowledge platform and event space for people working together towards a more sustainable society. The events, projects and initiatives they are hosting focus not only on environmental, but also on social and financial sustainability. This holistic approach to sustainability makes them amazingly exciting! Their work is highly based on co-creation and volunteer work, while building a local community of change-makers for mutual encouragement and inspiration. If you’re looking for an inspiring, engaging and empowering community that is all about making this world a better place, you just found it.
Anja and Martin, the founders of think.dk, started the Center back in 2015 for multiple reasons, but the main driver was always the desire to make a difference.
On the one hand, more and more alternative solutions to the (mostly unsustainable) mainstream do exist today, but the knowledge spreads slowly and there is hardly any lobby to help establish new, sustainable standards. Most people lack the time to research those solutions themselves, so think.dk provides a knowledge platform for everyone to get informed and inspired.
On the other hand, there is the omnipresent S-word: who, especially in the buzzing city of Copenhagen, is not regularly hit by stress!? We need more space to de-stress, slow down and connect with ourselves and others: lack of connection is one main cause of stress related diseases in our society, and this space provides a meeting place for open minded people from all ages & backgrounds and to connect, support & inspire each other to work together towards a more sustainable future, plus the infrastructure and self-care offers to help you take care of yourself.
Places like think.dk are urgently needed as a counterweight to the ‘traditional’ activities such as arts and sports – people are craving input on new solutions, and how to navigate through this rapidly developing world we live in. Here is a place where people can learn to live more sustainably, where they can personally and collectively develop, be inspired, experiment, celebrate and create.
The activities are structured in four different types:
– Knowledge sharing: articles and/or short videos and social media campaigns to raise awareness and increase knowledge on sustainability related topics
– Recurring events: regular events organized by think.dk or one of their co-creators. They host about 30 events per month, of which 80% are co-created by their members
– Community relations: activities related to build and nourish the community that is developing at the Center, to encourage interpersonal relations and human connection
– (In-house) projects: all kinds of time-limited project that manifest change in the outside world
Think.dk is built on the belief that everyone has the potential to make a difference and help create tomorrow’s sustainable solutions – given the right environment and inspiration. At this place, everyone can become a change-maker.
A membership is only 100,- DKK per month (or anything above that, depending on how much you feel like supporting this completely self-financed organization), so everyone can afford to join. If you ever craved to make a difference, don’t hesitate – stop by and check them out. You can grab the essence of the space and the amazing people creating it the best way when you are there!
