Sticks ‘n’ Sushi does breakfast

I think I can honestly say that I could eat sushi from Sticks ‘n’ Sushi every week given the chance and we have eaten in every Copenhagen based Sticks ‘n’ Sushi except Istedgade. I heard from our favourite waitress in the Frederiksberg restaurant that a new one was opening in the city centre on Borgergade. I added it to my list to try but when I heard they were going to be offering a Japanese/Danish style breakfast, I knew I had to go sooner rather than later.DSC00757

After a failed attempt on Sunday morning (the breakfast is currently only available on week days) I went back to try the Sticks ‘n’ Sunrise last week. Unsure about the size of the portions I went for the omelette with cheese, ham and spinach, an open sandwich on rye bread baked with miso, seaweed and coal topped with salmon (I asked to not have the goats cheese on this) and a bowl of morning kimchi. It was all delicious and the crispy bread was divine. The real surprise hit was the kimchi – fruit with a chilli kick. DSC00750

My appetite was greater than this delicate dishes so I ordered another round of the salmon and the other open sandwich on the menu, topped with avocado, pinenuts and soy dressing. That was sufficient and left me sated. All the flavours are delicate and powerful at the same time – if you can imagine.DSC00741 DSC00745 DSC00747I would definitely be back for breakfast again. This branch of Sticks ‘n’ Sushi is open later than the others and offers a wide cocktail menu in the evening and the bar open until 2am at weekends.

  1. I love sticks and sushi in Covent Garden, and we missed going when we were in Copenhagen, but next time.. We’ll be there!
