Yesterday was the first Sunday of Advent and we lit the first candle of four marking the Sundays up to Christmas. The weather was cold and wet and it seemed the perfect time to sit in being cosy. Christmas trees were lit in the rådhuspladser in Copenhagen and Frederiksberg as well as in local areas and the run up to Christmas has begun. I hope you enjoy a glimpse of Advent in our house and also this one metre long candle arrangement, which I think is very special.
I tend to use the same zinc tray each year and mix up the decorations. My son really wanted gold decorations this year so I got a very inexpensive box from Netto, added my Schleich deer, that I gave a little sparkle to last year, some pinecones I painted years ago and some fresh moss and candles from Aldi. I am very happy with the simple but sparkly combination.I’ve had my mum staying this last week and we spent Friday evening making these traditional Danish decorations from a pack from Netto.
We are also ready with our candle to mark down the days until Christmas. I took this photo during a brief moment of sunlight yesterday.
Again this arrangement is made mainly from things I already owned with a new candle and red berries from the local florist and little pinecones collected last winter from a forest near Tisvilde. I really like to mix old with new for Advent and Christmas.
Oh my – I am so impressed with your candle arrangement. So nice to see what wonderful things you can make without having to spend lots of money. Thanks so much for sharing!
Thanks, I prefer to use a bit of imagination rather than a lot of cash!
