Discovering Fælledparken

I had always associated Fælledparken with sport and activity and since moving to Østerbro, I still had thought the same. There are wide open spaces for sports, cycling, running, playing and relaxing. We spent time over the summer at the water playground, the trampoline area, the cycle playground and the towers playground as well as cycling through the section of the park close to Parken stadium.I like it but I missed my beloved Frederiksberg Have. I missed the lakes, the trees, the peaceful connection with nature.

Until last week. I was cycling home from dropping my son off as school and I spotted the huge tent village set up for the massive annual DHL run. I thought I would have a nosey around and as I did so I found myself in a section of the park I had previously missed.

There was a beautiful lake, lush trees, water birds, berries (even deadly nightshade which I haven’t seen since I was a child), a pavilion – it was everything I missed about Frederiksberg Have. I sat and took it all in and then cycled home with a big smile on my face.
