I really enjoy spending time in Christiania and I often wish I could get more of a glimpse into life inside the quirky and unusual homes dotted around the place there. I was delighted to see Christiania Interiør
by Karina Tengberg and Tami Christiansen in a bookshop about four years ago and I never tired of looking at the beautiful pictures of home in The Freetown.
One of the interesting things about the interiors of these homes is whilst they are unique in many ways, there is still a strong Danish design influence there – from Louis Poulsen lights to the simple Scandinavian way of living.
The text is in both English and Danish and through reading about the homes and their inhabitants I feel that I have a much better understanding of the real people who live here, who are often tucked away fro prying and curious eyes. This book gives you unprecedented access to these homes.
This book is a treat to own and read, even if you are only interested in looking at beautiful pictures of amazing interiors but if you have any curiosity about those living in the weird and wonderful homes in Christiania it is a must.
