My name is Melanie. I am from the UK and I have lived in Copenhagen since 2008 (with a short spell in Berlin in 2011).

On this blog you can find posts about my favourite places in the city, new discoveries and place to visit. But I also talk about relevant current news events such as COVID-19, sustainability and the climate crisis and ways we can make a better space to live for everyone. My dress in the photo above is a 1960’s find from a local vintage shop. You can watch similar content on my YouTube channel.

As a freelance writer, I am a regular contributor to The Local DK. I have been featured in The Guardian, Huffington Post and The Sunday Times talking about relocation and life in Copenhagen. I have appeared on Radio 5 Live, TV2 Nyheder and DR1 as an expert on life as an expat in Denmark. I am always open to these kinds of media opportunities. You can find links to my articles here.

I am currently working as a communications consultant for Unwire, a Danish company specialising in innovative mobility and payments solutions. I handle their social media presence and create marketing copy for their key products and website.

I have also worked with Copenhagen Capacity and Startup Everywhere. You can read more about my professional experience over on LinkedIn.

I have written a number of practical guides to relocation which you can find here.

I am also very active on social media and you can follow me on Instagram (to see daily life here), Twitter (where I am a bit political), Facebook.   You can contact me directly at hello(at)dejligedays(dot)com

  1. Dear Melanie,

My name is Joyce and I work for ExpatFinder.com.
ExpatFinder.com is a free one stop website for people preparing to move or working and living overseas. We provide a myriad of services for expatriates and we have over 2,000 articles to help and support the people moving around the world and we are now creating an interview section to help the expats with real life experiences!
We quite enjoy your blog about living in Denmark, it is very interesting and informative. Would it be possible to interview you to further share some of your tips and feature some of your first hand experience as an Expat and your interview will be published on our Expat Interview section as a guide for our expat readers. The questions are mainly about the day to day lifestyle of an expat. If it would be possible, could you also send some photographs that we can use?
Of course, if you accept, we can add a link to your blog or some of your website.
The questions are enclosed, feel free to respond freely. You can return the doc with your answers if you accept this invitation.
Thanks in advance and do let me know if you prefer other means to conduct this interview and we would be happy to accommodate your terms.

    Best regards,
    Joyce

  2. Hi melanie, i’m an italian journalist coming to copenhagen on business. I’d like to talk to u. How can i contact u?

  3. Dear Melanie, I just want to compliment you on your wonderful blog. I’ve been reading it for some years now. As a native Dane I like to read and hear about how others (non-native Danes) view the Danes and life in Denmark. Both the positive stuff but also very much the stuff that doesn’t always works well here. It gives me even more perspective, and I love your honesty. It is also very helpful when I tell my english-speaking friends about Denmark.
